Prumas 5th Edition seen as the best
Since the inception of
Progress Upper West Music Awards PRUMAS; musicians, Industry players and stakeholders
have held it in high esteem even though there have been some allegations raised
against the awards scheme.
Complainants have
shared their thoughts on what they say is the unfair nature of the music award scheme.
Although there still has been some disquiet in the 2018 edition of PRUMAS,
entertainment pundits have described it as the best as they have acknowledged
the efforts of organizers in producing a better award scheme.
PRUMAS was instituted
by Radio Progress a local radio station to appreciate and honor hard working musicians
in the Upper West Region. The 5th edition of PRUMAS included the following
categories; Hip life artiste,song for development,revenue song ,sanitation
song, hiphop song, best sound engineer, best collaboration, new artiste, best
rapper, best video ,Best album, afro pop song, female vocalist , male vocalist
, dance hall song, dance hall artiste , reggae song, reggae artiste, gospel
song, traditional artiste hip life song most popular song, artiste of the year
It has since awarded
artistes with items such as Plasma Televisions, Fridges, rice cookers, Laptops,
tablets, among others, the ultimate which is Artistes of the year was awarded a
brand new Honda Motor Bike at the just ended Prumas, this and many are given to
Artiste in the region to show appreciation to their efforts of providing the
region with good music.
The 5th edition (2018
edition) of PRUMAS saw Wiz Maleek as Artistse of the year, Hiplife artiste of
the year – (Rasino),song for development – (El-Twist),Revenue song of the year
– (Eddy Lee),Sanitation song of the year – (Wiz Maleek),Hip hop song of the
year – (Medra),Best sound engineer – (Ferdiskills),Best collaboration of the
year – (G-Dogg),New artiste of the year – (Sambwoy),Best rapper of the year –
(Gally),Best video of the year – (G-Dogg),Album of the year – (Gally),Afro pop
song of the year – (El-Twist),Best female vocalist of the year – (Queenzy
Banner),Best male vocalist of the year – (Sypher),Dancehall song of the year –
(Mr Wab),Dancehall artiste of the year – (Don Ratty),Raggae song of the year
-(Linkman),Raggae artiste of the year – (Linkman ), Gospel song of the year –
(Badda),Traditional artiste of the year – (El-Twist), Hiplife song of the year
– (Big J), most popular song of the year – (Gally)
This year's edition has
been labeled as the best of it kind ever in n the region since it's inception
to award hard working artists even though some artiste like Davito, (Upper West
Shatta Wale) claimed it was totally fraudulent.
