I don’t battle with Artistes I am bigger than-Stunner replies Rekordz
The
Upper West music scene has seen a lot of 'action' in recent times. After the PRUMAS,
things were supposed to get even hotter when two of the best rappers in the Region
were called out by MC Alaska on 'SteetVibez' to battle it out for bragging rights
as the Rap King for the Upper West Region.
The
much talked about, much awaited street rap was highly disappointing as the 'Waali
VanDamme' Stunner was a no show. This for
most people meant that he was scared to 'get dirty' against his opponent Rekordz
Gh.
In
an interview with One Muzik Gh, the Producer of 'Streetvibez,' Free P was astounded
about the absence of Stunner. He explained that he had on several occasions communicated
the time to the management of Stunner who had promised to be there. Free P intimated that there might have been a semblance of fear from the camp of Stunner thus the disappointment.
Many
took to social media claiming Stunner was afraid to be 'murdered' on the beat like
Sambwoy, the current Upper West new artiste of the year. Sambwoy was humiliated
by Rekords on Radio Waa a few weeks back.Stunner
has however cleared the air on why he failed
to show up for the rap battle.
He
posited that despite voicing he jingles of Home Radio; the platform for the rap
battle, he had yet to be recognized for his work only to be called for a battle.
A battle he stressed was arranged by Rekordz. Stunner opined that battling the likes
of Rekordz GH is undermining his stature as a mainstream artiste in the region.
He said if he had been called to battle the likes of Gally, Ojay and Typanza he would
have to honored the request. Stunner mentioned that monkeys play by
sizes so Rekordz must battle people along the same lines as him.
Rekordz
was crowned Rap King of Street Vibes and threw an open challenge to all the rappers
in the region.
Battle Rap is characterized
by spontaneous free styling embodied with lots of bragging and taunting. Rap battle
is generally believed to have started in East Coast hip hop scene in the the late
1980s.The Creative use of language has always been a defining feature of Afro-based
communities in the world over.
